Happy Friday! I was so excited when I received my drink kit from Iced Above last month that I didn’t hesitate to create this spicy mango margarita with chamoy! So tangy and spicy, it’s the drink you need to make and enjoy outdoors now that it’s getting warmer out. I ordered my kit from Iced Above in California along with a few other sweets and Michelada spices. By the way, Michelada is a spicy beer that originated in Mexico but that’s another post! This post is all about this chamoy and this spicy mango margarita!
I learned about chamoy years ago after seeing mango drinks rimmed with a thick reddish sauce and covered in spices. For years I’ve been sprinkling Tajin or tajin-like spices on fruits and to rim my drinks, but chamoy was a new thing. Chamoy is a thick sauce traditionally made of pureed plums, apricots, lime and spices. You can buy it bottled or search online to learn how to make your own. I prefer a more authentic homestyle sauce than a store bought bottle and found an amazing dip from Iced Above. I absolutely love their drink dips and Miche boxes and will have to try a Mango Chamoyada next!
Here’s a quick and easy recipe for my spicy mango margarita with chamoy. If you love spicy, sweet and sour, you’ll want to add this to your arsenal. I’ve made so many different types of margaritas over the years. This Prickly Pear Margarita and this Blood Orange Margarita are two favorites! Add these to your line up this Summer for some fun cocktails! Enjoy
